In spite of initial positive preliminary discussions with Kickstarter.com, we have come to the decision to move our project from Kickstarter. Kickstarter has expressed that the social aspect of The Ultimate Food App is “not a reflection of our focus”. This is regrettable, but if they cannot support the powerful social networking in The Ultimate Food App and our creative approach to helping people find food, then we must choose to find a crowdfunding platform that will. Furthermore, if Kickstarter has lost focus on the American entrepreneurial spirit, then we wish them well.
We have found a more compatible platform with the crowdfunding site indiegogo.com . indiegogo is a major crowdfunding site and is a pioneer in the industry. They are far less restrictive and open to all types of projects they host. In addition, they also have a very strong support system.
While we are changing platforms, it is critical to note that we still maintain that crowdfunding is the best vehicle for obtaining the funding for a development project that is social-driven like The Ultimate Food App. It is only logical that a product developed for the social environment be placed in the hands of the people who will be using it.
And so we shall continue on our quest and build the vehicle for the movement that will soon become the best way to find your next great meal. We will always appreciate your support and enthusiasm for the app and the culture that it represents. We look forward to continuing to work with you and foodies worldwide to make this dream a reality.
